Mai Tai Guy Posted July 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2005 We will be in Rarotonga on Sunday during our cruise and was wondering if anyone has attended a local church service there. We're looking for a church which is within walking distance from where the ship tenders in. Being Sunday, it doesn't look like we will be able to get a "legal" license to drive a rental car since the police station is closed that day.:)
got2go2mo2 Posted July 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2005 We will also be in Raro on a Sunday (Dec 4, 2005). We did this cruise in March 2003 and loved Rarotonga so much, we went back later that year for a 12-day land stay. We rented a house in the Arorangi district so attended the Cook Islands Christian Church (CICC) there. It was an amazing experience. The service is all in Cook Islands Maori. The singing is unreal! According to my map, there is a CICC within walking distance in Avarua. When we vacationed in Rarotonga, the busses ran on Sunday, although on a limited schedule. I checked the current bus schedule on line, and they no longer run on Sunday. There are so many places we want to return to, if only for a day, while we are there on the TP. We have a Cook Islands Drivers License, but it expired last year. It may be a shot in the dark, but we are thinking of contacting the Police Department to see if we can renew it by mail. It would be a shame to visit this lovely little island without having the means to really see it! Kathy
