Will Carnival Valor allow us to explore OSJ after check-in?

We will be arriving at the airport at 3:30 on Sunday, May 18 and Carnival transfer will take us to the ship. Since the ship leaves so late, we were hoping to drop the bags and explore a little before departing.

Yes you can leave the ship, just like being in a port. You can also go to the CVS across the street to get your water/soda when you return. I think you have to be back onboard by 8:30pm but I would say 8pm to be on the safe side.

Yes in fact as the other poster says the CVS is practically right across the street. you can carry on your bottles of wine if you drink wine. Then go out and walk around Old San Juan and bring 2 more on when you come back on. Definitely do go out and walk around. San Juan is such a cool place to experience. You can just feel the history there.... almost smell it in the air. The last time we went on that itinerary with Carnival we did have to be back on board by 8:30... the Muster drill is at around 9:00 or so then the best sail away in the biz IMHO ... through theopening to the bay and past the old city walls all lit up and then El Morro looming on the hill to protect the port Very Beautiful. Have a great cruise.
