Tahiti Car Rental

We are going to be staying 3 days pre cruise at the ICB on Tahiti. We were thinking about possibly renting a car here one day and doing our own circle island tour, stopping wherever we want. Has anyone ever done this on Tahiti. Also, would we need to reservice a car ahead of time or can we just get one at the ICB resort once we get there. What would be the must see sights around the island if we decide to do this.

Don't know if you have read a previous cruise critic member review on the TP by DGF 09/03, but he gives a very detailed and descriptive self guided "circle island" tour which includes exact mileage markers and "must see" stops around the island of Tahiti. I printed off a copy on my computer to take along in case we decide to rent a car and do our own circle island tour. It looks like there are a few car rental desks located at the ICB Hotel, so we figure it probably won't be a problem getting a car when we arrive in Tahiti and decide what we want to do.

 

We're still planning on doing a day trip to Moorea...just don't know which day will work out the best! So much to choose from and not enough days!!! ;)

Hi Jackie,

 

ICB has a Eurocar counter in the check-in area. We just walked up and asked to rent a day in advance and there were plenty of them avalible. About 130$ for a manual, AC, 4 doors and 24hrs. If you need an automatic you might want to reserve one.
