Millennium July 4-July 11

Just off the Millennium northbound from Vancouver. Here are some thoughts:

Vancouver-stayed at the Pan-Pacific Hotel. Wonderful hotel and easy access from the hotel lobby to the cruise ship terminal.

Embarkation-Went down around 11:00AM. There were 3 lines. Security first, maybe 5 minutes. Then customs, maybe 15 minutes. Then Celebrity, maybe 10 minutes, so approximately 30 minutes to get on board.

Stateroom-had CC class on deck 8. Was ready around 1:30PM. Luggage did not arrive until 5:00 PM, and not just for us, but for many passengers. This was much later than our previous 2 sailings on the Millennium. New carpeting and upholstery in stateroom. Very clean bathroom and shower. Ample storage space. Comfortable bed. Absolutely no complaints about the room.

Food-main dining room was too hectic for us, so we only ate there twice. Ate in Qsine and Olympic once. Wonderful meals both times. Can't put my finger on it, but the buffet, even though it was quite substantial and had lots of different ethnic choices, just didn't measure up to our last sailings. Just marginally not as good.

Crew and captain-very accessible and helpful at all times. Activity director, Rachel and activity host, Josh were everywhere and always ready to please.

Entertainment-my description would be, something for everyone, you just have to pick and choose. The Cirque acrobats were pretty amazing.

Packages-had the classic liquor package. Confusing and vague as to what's included and what's not. You just have to ask. I had to occasionally pay full price for a drink not covered. The weakest selection is wine by the glass. Only a few possibilities.

Dress code-10 years ago we found around 80% of the men wearing tuxedos on formal night, 4 years ago it was around 40%. On this cruise, it was more like 10%. A lot of men in suits, not tuxes. Also, a good number of people did not go to the MDR for formal night, but ate at the buffet.

Hi and thanks for the report. Glad it seems like you enjoyed your Alaska cruise on Millennium!

Was there a speaker on board lecturing about the Alaskan ports? Did he speak as you went thru the glacier day? Could you hear him on a tv channel in your room , or did you have to be out on a specific open deck?

How was your weather?

Thanks.
