paulgraff Posted July 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Over 20 cruises under my belt, never really had a bad one and have cruised CCL many times. However, just back from the Sunshine and the smokers that surrounded our balcony ruined our balcony experience. Morning, noon, and ALL night they were out there smoking, and smoking, and smoking some more. There was so much smoke it even seeped into our room. We called and were told there was nothing to be done about it. We were told, "it was their right to smoke on the balcony." Well where were my right not to be exposed to smoke 24 hours a day for seven days? I can tell you moving forward if I have a choice I won't sail any line that allows smoking on the balcony again. And I just noticed on the news yesterday that NCL won't allow smoking on the balconies anymore. I am not an anti smoker, but I don't believe your right to smoke should infringe on my rights to breath clean air. PG
KenMo Posted July 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Not to worry. Starting some time in Oct (either 8th or 9th?) Carnival has banned balcony smoking.
Cruisin Dave Posted July 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Amen, they are not entitled and I'm glad the industry is finally listening. This has happened to us in the past, too.
CrusinCyndi Posted July 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Guess you are in luck as Carnival and NCL are no longer allowing smoking on balconies. So you should be free to book any cruiseline and be assured of no smoke around you when you are out on your balcony.
paulgraff Posted July 16, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted July 16, 2014 That is great news, I have not heard that!!! Its just a shame we wasted all that extra money on a balcony we did not get to use. Thanks! PG
