Cake Pics Thread from Past Brides

Hi Everyone! I wanted to see if any of the past brides or even current brides with cakes that they know Carnival will create had any pictures they could share. Also, if you could include any up charges for the decoration of the cake that would be lovely! Getting married in April and I have to plan things out!

Thanks!

I had communicated with Carnival a few weeks ahead of time and they had agreed to do a criss-cross pattern my cake (similar to attached photo), for no additional cost.

But, when we got there, it was Carnival's standard cake decoration with the piped swirly pattern on it (photo attached). So, they failed on that. They still added the flowers and ribbon we had brought. It still looked beautiful and it definitely tasted great, so we didn't let it bother us. My husband and I both noticed it, but I don't think we even mentioned it to the coordinator because it really wasn't that big of a deal to us at the time and we weren't going to let it ruin our day.

We went a different route and asked for plain layers with no piping. We brought our own ribbon and topper that the pastry chef put on for us. We originally wanted something more intricate, but were afraid it would get lost in the game of telephone (me->coordinator->onboard coordinator->head chef->pastry chef->and back up the line).

Did you have a member of your party put the ribbon on, or how did you decorate your cake to make it more personal?

One of the wedding coordinators put the decorations (ribbon & silk flowers) on our cake for us. I couldn't get my flower topper to come out how I wanted it, so I just brought a bunch of silk flower petals (matched my bouquet) and figured we'd work it out somehow. They took all my decorations prior to boarding and by the time we got to reception, the coordinators had set us the guest book table & put the ribbon & flowers on the cake. And they did a great job at it... especially considering I didn't give them much direction on it... I basically handed them stuff and said to make it pretty. Actually, I think I even had 3 different widths of that same ribbon in the box I gave them, so they had to choose the best ribbon size and figure out how to arrange the flowers.

When we boarded I had made sure to put all the reception stuff in a separate suitcase. So, before boarding, when the coordinator wanted the stuff for reception (favors, guest book, etc) & cake decoration, I was able to just hand her that whole bag, which made it really easy.

We had a three tier cake for our Carnival Miracle wedding.

Chocolate cake with fudge ganache

Vanilla cake with strawberry cream filling

Red Velvet with cream cheese filling

Our cake topper was orange and fushia silk flowers. Just the flower parts taken off the stem.

We requested the squiggle design on each tier to match a cake I saw on-line (the last pic)

1st tier was red velvet with crème cheese

middle tier was marble with chocolate

Top tier was mixed chocolate and vanilla layers with strawberry

All were delicious.

We paid $50 for an extra tier because we liked the look of a 3-tier cake. We brought the ribbon with us, and they put it on.

We are going to go with 3 tiers. I want to go with their regular piping, but I want the piping to be black instead of white. We are going to have the fresh red roses on top with a cake topper. I'm waiting until I get closer for the piping request. I don't want that to get lost.

Also, I wonder if we can bring our own cake stand.

You cake turned out Great!!! Was the piping their standard or was that special? I'm not to picky on the piping but I think i'll be bringing ribbon and possibly flowers (haven't decided on the flowers yet).

Does anyone have photos of what their cake looked like prior to decorations with a comparison of after their decorations? Or just more cake photos? I'm really interested in how they look. I'm going to get a 3 tier cake.

I know you can add an additional tier for $50 with CCL. I'm not sure if there is a cap to the number of tiers. We have decided to do 3 regardless of how short our guest list is.

Also if you ask them they will save the leftover cake and serve it at dinner each night!

You had 4 tier's? What cruise line we're you on? I hadn't seen that as an option. I wish I knew the circumference of each tier so I can have the ribbon ready.

We were on Carnival we had 98 guests though, 35 sailing the rest non-sailing. They automatically upgraded it to a four tier after I submitted the final paperwork, I decided over the phone what I wanted for that tier to be lol.

Well, with that many guests, I can understand. I'm probably going to stick with three tiers. The cake has me the most nervous. Lol.

Interesting thing I found out from Carnival:

The dimensions of the wedding cakes are -

2 Tier (for up to 50 guests) Diameter: Top Tier 10”, Bottom tier 12”

3 tier (from 51-75 guests) Diameter: Top Tier 8”, Middle tier 10”, Bottom Tier 12”

Height of all cakes, 3.5”

I asked for this information, so might as well share.

That's great info! I haven't seen it posted anywhere else but it's definitely helpful to know since I plan on bringing ribbon for the cake! Good call!
