SOMBRERO6 Posted August 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Just starting to make plans for a January cruise.....I need suggestions on getting from a hotel in Clearwater Beach to the Port to board the Carnival Paradise. My husband has a Business meeting and we are hoping he can get out of the meeting by noon. Ship departure is at 4 pm. Seems like a couple of hours should allow us to do this???? Any ideas? Capt_BJ Posted August 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2014 boarding typically closes 90 minutes or more b4 the announced sailing time . . . . (ICE rules) your drive is about an hour . . . if there are no accidents on the bridge you don't have much margin for error you probably want a taxi with a heavy foot . . . fendbass Posted August 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Traffic in Clearwater Beach is absolutely brutal, not much better going through the city of Clearwater. From there, rte 60 is very heavily commericalized, and hope that there are no accidents on the Campbell Causeway Try to get out earlier than 12 if you can, if everything goes perfectly, you will have no problems, but, if they don't, it will be close
FlaGrl4Evr Posted August 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Call some local taxi companies and see what their flat-rate would be from Clwt Beach to the port. Also, you can check Super Shuttle of Tampa Bay BUT they do pick-up other passengers along the way so if time is of the essence, I would opt for the taxi and pay a few bucks more. It would be better to spend the few extra $ and know that you will get there faster -vs- saving a few dollars and missing the ship. Here is link to a few taxi companies that serve the Clearwater/Tampa Bay area: http://www.1800taxicab.com/static/taxi-services-clearwater-fl.htm :) .
