Ketchikan Alaska Seaplane Tours

we booked this tour about 10 months ago. we were picked up almost as soon as we walked off this Radiance on Sept 3.

we had a early morning tour out to Prince of Wales island for some bear viewing.. the flight out was great and after about 20 minutes we landed on Miller lake to look for bears in a creek where the salmon were running. well no sooner did we all step off the plane and a nice medium size black bear appeared. he paid no attention to us at all. eating on a dead salmon then moving to the stream to try and catch a salmon with no luck so he moved back to eating the dead salmon.. he stuck around for about 30 minutes moving around some before walking further up the creek out of view. then another larger black bear came out of the woods down on the lakeside for us. we watched him walk up the shoreline and he had to disprove a old wives tale that "Bears do poop in the woods" we all had a laugh as the bear did his thing on the shore line about 300ft away from us.. well after a bit he took off and it was time for us to leave... Eric our pilot took us back to Alaska seaplane tours headquarters after a quick flyby of the ships in port.

this was a great tour. everyone in a party had a great time..

there was a ton of salmon in the creek. all of the rain that was in Ketchikan prior to our arrival had brought up water levels and was allowing the fish to swim up stream.
