nhcruiser Posted August 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2005  We will be sailing to Hawaii aboard the Island Princess on November 7th. As we did on our Regal Princess cruise to Hawaii last year, we plan to rent a car at each port to explore the islands with our friends cruising with us. When we rented from Avis last year, we found that upon arrival we had to pick-up and return the car either at the local airport or at a downtown location. In all cases a cab ride was involved, both ways, adding as much as $40 to the daily cost not to mention the time penalty. We also noted that other cruisers aboard the Regal Princess were picked-up and dropped off at the pier by their car rental company(s). If you have rented from one of these companies in Hawaii that pick-up and drop-off at the pier, please share the contact information with us along with other insider information that you have learned. Thanks in advance! Rod
Jules1 Posted August 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2005 We rented from Alamo in Hawaii. They offered a free shuttle ride from the pier to the airport to pick up/drop off the car. I saw other agencies with vans at the pier also. There's a bunch of info on this on the Hawaii board.
cruisesusie Posted August 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2005 We rented from Budget and they provided a shuttle from the pier to the airport or town to pick up our car. First I called the 800 numbers of the various rental companies for the best price and then I called the Hawaii office direct to inquire about shuttles and make the arrangements. Everything went smoothly. Susan
nhcruiser Posted August 19, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted August 19, 2005 Susan, Thank You! That is exactly the information that we were looking for. I have enrolled in Budget's FastBreak program and set-up our rental reservations on-line for each port. Thanks Again, Rod
