TMW67 Posted November 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2014 We will be in Antigua for the first time from 8-5pm & would like to got to Shirley Heights & Devil's Bridge & then go to a calmer beach but are undecided about which beach to go to. We have read that Half Moon Bay is good for snorkeling but Galley Bay looks more enticing to me in pictures. How is the snorkeling in Galley Bay? Would love to see your pictures of these 2 beaches also. Thanks!
scomar Posted November 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2014 We did not snorkel at Half Moon but it was very pretty and deserted. There was us two and only three others on the beach. No facilities of any kind. Have not been to Galley Bay. Have a great time!!!
chamima Posted November 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2014 I was wondering also about which beach to go to on Antigua. Another recommendation was Darkwood. We're looking for quiet beauty with maybe some snorkeling.

Sailing4Sun Posted December 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2014 I was just looking into Galley Bay myself, as I saw a picture of the resort there. It's fancy and I don't suppose offers day passes for cruisers, but maybe something nearby? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
scomar Posted December 2, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2014 That beach looks gorgeous. How far away is it from the pier and how did you get there? It's about a 45 minute drive from the pier, give or take 15 minutes depending on traffic. We hired a driver to take us there first, then we went to Jolly Beach, which is absolutely gorgeous and has amenities. I have attached a couple of photos of Jolly Beach if you are interested. Going to both beaches and spending a little time at each was about a 5 or 6 hour round trip. I do not know what it cost to go there now, but back in 2012 when we went it cost us about $200 (two of us) for the entire time we were with the driver, which he waited for us to have our own beach time at each place.
