gosaints2006 Posted November 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2014 I am looking into coverage, but not sure what to do. Due to my location and the cost of the trip I do not believe I need some of the types of coverage being offered. I've only purchased travel insurance once and it was via the cruiseline. I am looking to shop it around this time, but not sure what to do. See below and let me know what you think. Me-39yr Wife-30yr Sister-20yr Son-14mo We live 15 minutes from port. Total cost of trip for all is $2700, most of which was paid for with reward points. :D Not too concerned about lost luggage coverage. So I guess I'm just looking for Medical?? I'm looking at a plan that has: 50k Medical 500k Medical Evac 10k Death $250 Deductable Cost $47.70 for all of us. How does this sound?? Am I missing something?? cherylandtk Posted November 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2014 Well, it all depends on what happens. Do you have elderly family members that might get sick and need you to come home in an emergency? Will any of you trip and fall and get injured on the trip? Will anyone get a virus? Will you have an allergic reaction to a bug bite? If course we don't know any of these things yet, which is what insurance is for. The price you paid is bare bones, but you all are young. The coverage is probably OK enough for a one week Caribbean cruise, but it is certainly better than nothing. The deductible is what throws me....I don't think I have seen that before in a trip insurance plan. The only other questions, I would ask is this primary or secondary payer coverage. Who is the underwriter and their rating, is the provider well known with decent reviews.
