Cruise Care and Future Cruise Certificate

If I have a cruise, say for the amount of $1000. I use a future cruise certificate on it, and only pay $200 for the cruise in cash. If I have to cancel for a medical reason - what do I get refunded to me? I obviously don't feel I'm entitled to $1000 refund, but I do want to use that money in the future. Same for say a free cruise won from Bingo. Could you insure that in case something happened?
