Hotel Close to Pier

After reading everyones advice we've decided to stay in NY instead of NJ. Any suggestions has to where to stay would be helpful. We would like as close to the ship as possible. Thanks

I would not stay near the pier, it is not a good part of town, nothing to see and pretty seedy. I'd definitely stay in Midtown area where you can walk most anywhere or catch the Greyline hop on and off bus to see the sights. Don't waste your time or $ staying near the pier. Taxis are readily available anywhere in NYC.
