slugman Posted December 22, 2014 #26 Share Posted December 22, 2014 We did NOT bother with insurance this time because I knew her cruise fair was only $180 (for the fourth person in a room....this is the only time we have not done 2 rooms so it was not THAT big of a deal)I was fine with just having that extra space/bed. I just don't want them calling my name over the PA looking for her! lol We had the same a couple years back, my DD's B/F decided to, well that's another story, anyway, we had four people booked in two cabins, I just printed my DD's boarding pass and sent her thru check-in, no questions asked about the other room guest and nobody called us over the PA. =-) So sounds like you can do the same, cut your losses and enjoy the cruise. And sorry your other DD had to work. Cheers!!
ccruisequeen Posted December 22, 2014 #27 Share Posted December 22, 2014 My parents had to cancel due to illness. We forfeited his fare, and my mom's was used as a single supplement. Only problem was, I was on their credit card, and once they were gone, so was my SS money! Luckily, I had extra money for the casino that could use for tips and extras. pearose Posted December 22, 2014 #28 Share Posted December 22, 2014 What is the difference as reporting him not coming at check-in or being a no-show? Isn't that the same thing? Myself, my daughter and her boyfriend were booked in the cabin together. It is 3 ppl in a 4 sleeper cabin anyway, specially picked because it is next door to my son and his gf's cabin with connecting balconies. Now my daughter and her bf have broken up (for good this time) but I still do not want to cancel him now because I don't want to run an even higher risk we might get bumped to a different cabin if they need it for another 3 or 4 party. I did not buy insurance, I am the one who paid his fare (except for the deosit, which he paid). I was just planning to tell them at check in that he is not coming after all. So what would be the difference in doing that or just saying nothing? I figured they would ask when we check in where he is. Won't they? lizziez00 Posted December 22, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted December 22, 2014 This was basically my original question..^^^^.. It seems that there really is no difference. I, like you, don't want to call and tell them early cause I don't want to lose the cabin we are in currently.
ManyMore Posted December 22, 2014 #30 Share Posted December 22, 2014 It makes no difference whether you tell them or not upon check in as they will still be a no show. They will probably ask where that person is when you check in and ask if they are sailing.
