Hotel/travel options to POM

Arrive in FLL late on Friday, 1/16 and cruise from POM on Saturday, 1/17. We are a family of five and just need suggestions on best place to stay, either FLL or Miami and transportion ideas from FLL to POM. Thanks in advance, this is our second cruise however our first was from Port Canavaral. Looking forward to our cruise but having a hard time planning our precruise overnight accommodations and travel to port.

Arriving late into FLL I would stay near there - comparable hotels are cheaper near FLL than in Miami/Miami Beach and the transport will be much easier the next day.

 

http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and hotel info. Lots of chain hotels in the downtown/17th street area of FLL - what is your budget? :confused: Prices in January will be steep :eek: so start shopping now.

 

SAS (http://www.ridesas.com) QLS, Go Airport Shuttle, MJS and others will shuttle your family to POM (about a 45 minute trip) for about $13-15+ per person each way.

I agree. Staying in Fort Lauderdale will be a less expensive option. You can take a private shuttle for just your family that will take you directly to the port on Saturday. It's $115 one-way or $215 round-trip.

Another option is to rent a car in FLL and drop it in MIA. There are no additional one way rental fees in south Florida. Several rental companies have a free shuttle from MIA to POM. Alamo is one of them, we are doing this in January and have done it several times in the past. By the time you figure transportation for 5, you will might save money and it opens up a lot of hotel choices between FLL and MIA. I was quoted $68 for a one day rental of a mini van through COSTCO with Alamo. Ended up going with a full size car directly on Alamo site for $55.

If you don't want to rent a car, I can say that we have used SAS several times between hotel in FLL and POM and back and they were great.
