NJ Fred Posted February 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Last night we booked Fantasia departing 7 January 2016 for 11 nights out of Rome. My wife and I have completed 70 cruises aboard various cruise lines. None of those have been on an MSC vessel. We are Americans and consider ourselves "regular" meaning we are not snobs and enjoy meeting others from all walks of life. We value politeness and sophistication without being snobby about it. We have read many opinions about MSC. We have found that rudeness manifested via jumping lines, pushing, etc. can happen anywhere aboard any ship run by any line. Here is our focal concern based on medical realities: smoking. We accept that MSC allows smoking in designated areas. We sailed other lines when they had similar rules. The question is does MSC, specifically Fantasia, enforce those rules if passengers choose to violate them? Any experiences/advice will be sincerely appreciated. Many thanks. Elmartellama Posted February 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2015 On the Lido deck, it was allowed to smoke in one part of it, don't remember whether it was left or right. I found it disgusting. The rule was enforced, I saw some officials telling smokers not to smoke on the wrong side. In other parts of the ship, aside from the Casino, no one did ever smoke. NJ Fred Posted February 3, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Thank you. We are excited about experiencing MSC. We took a Royal Caribbean cruise this past November on Legenod of the Seas and it left much to be desired. Hoping the "European flavor" of MSC will be just what we crave.
