Upsell From Ocean View Cabin

We just booked our first ocean view (guarantee) cabin. Is it common to be offered an upsell from this category? What has your experience been? Thanks!

I wouldn't say it's common. It happens, but not predictably.

I usually book an obstructed-view or an outside guarantee, and in my own experience I've only been "up-sold" (as in, offerd a higher category at extra cost) once - My guarantee was originally assigned as an ocean-view, but I was offered an up-sell to a verandah (a choice of 3, actually), which I took.

On two other occasions I was "upgraded" (for free), and both times it happened right at check-in. The first time I was moved from an obstructed-view to the cabin right next door, which was full-view. The second time I was kicked halfway across the ship from a standard OV to a verandah. Needless to say, that one was a very pleasant surprise!

The rest of the time, I've gotten the cabin (or category) that I reserved with no offers or changes.
