cruise'n Posted September 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2005 We are looking for a hotel in the Harwich area for 1 day pre-cruise. If you have stayed in a hotel in Harwich, would you please advise if you would recommend it or not.
Nickwolf Posted September 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2005 I don't know Harwich all that well I'm afraid but I have found this link to the local Tourist Information Centre. This will be run by the local authority and will give you good advice on the hotels in the area. LINK . Nick.
jmurph Posted September 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2005 Stayed the Hotel Continental last year. We took the train into Harwich and didn't prearrange a taxi, so we walked to the Hotel. It was uphill, but we managed to get there. Everyone was very accommadating, and while not a 4 star hotel, it was nice. The pubs in the area are quite fun and there is one in the Hotel. The owner makes some excellent Pate, and we took one with us to have on the ship during our private sail away party.
Globaliser Posted September 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2005 The Pier at Harwich has a good reputation. It's run by the same people as run the Talbooth (both restaurant and hotel), and I can personally vouch for the quality of those establishments. lord of the seas Posted September 5, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2005 Cruise'n, The Pier at Harwich is very good as Globaliser says.I have known the Milsom family for many years and use their other Hotels/Restaurants which are lovely. When eating lunch at the Pier some years ago, there was a pianist playing and in the middle of a tune she stopped playing and rang a ships bell to much suprise from the diners. When I asked what was going on, the waiter said that she always rang the bell when a ship was passing the Pier Hotel.
