first night of cruise - open seating?

Hi we'll be going out on our first cruise tomorrow on Infinity. I seem to remember reading somewhere that on the first night, you are not necessarily with your permanent tablemates in the dining room, that it's open seating? Or did I mix things up and was reading about another cruiseline? Thanks!

at least not in our experience - six cruises so far (just back today from Mercury to AK, working on the review as we speak) - your table assignment awaits you upon boarding. I'm sure there's the odd exception, very late departures perhaps, but not likely for yours ... have a great time!

Thanks so much for the clarification. The sailaway is at 5pm. Before dinner and hopefully under a Golden Gate Bridge that is not totally obscured by fog - today it was really dense, but you could see part of the bridge. Hey, we'll be eating our first dinner on the Infinity in 24 hrs.!!!
