algaes Posted April 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) There is no channel on the television to see a map showing the ship's position and track, heading, speed, distance since departure, distance to final port, etc.. There is also no bridge webcam. I've loved those features on every other cruise line I've been on and always take a picture at the beginning and end of the cruise to document the voyage. Maybe it's the old radarman in me but not having access to the ship's info leaves me feeling somewhat empty. When you sail thru major marine landmarks like the Dardenelles at night, it's a pity you can't see on a plot what you are doing. Good thing there is wide open internet for now so I can tie up at sea resources to track the ship on Vesselfinder. Sources who should know the inner workings told me it was not something overlooked but instead a choice by Viking mgt to omit from services to cabin televisions. Again, an ironic choice by Viking given their stated market position that the sailing experience and destinations should be the focus and not rock walls, bumper cars, casinos, etc. Edited April 16, 2015 by algaes
