NCL Specialty Dining Package - consecutive days?

Sailing Mediterranean on the Spirit, 12 nts. We are able to choose a package for free (free if you don't include the service charge) so we are thinking of the UBP. But the couple we are going with is doing the dining package which gives them free dining in specialty restaurants every night of the cruise. If we want to purchase the dining package separately but only for 4 nights, can we choose the nights we use it or will it be used for the first 4 specialty dining nights consecutively? Reason I'm asking is that if we buy 4 nights, we would want to use it for Cagneys or Teppanyaki only and just pay for the other two if we happen to get there.

You can always pay for the speciality restaurants as you go. Depending on which restaurants ypu chose, that may even be cheaper. I was on a cruise on Epic last year and on the ship you could buy a 3 day dining package.

The UBP was a bargain for us last year. We are doing the 12 day Spirit in october. We booked early, and got both rhe UBP and UDP for free. Looking forward to it.

I would suggest you pay as you go and see what you want to do. As platinum cruisers, we eat at specialty restaurants 3 of 7 nights since we get two free and another comped by the casino. We have both agreed that if they weren't free, we would probably only do 1 or maybe 2 specialty restaurants as we enjoy the MDRs and the freedom to eat at any time we want to without a reservation.
