Insurance expiration date?

Experienced travelers,

Help.

In September, 2014 we booked a cruise for April, 2016 (new Viking ship) and bought TravelEX travel insurance through our agent. When my husband got a new job we changed our cruise to October, 2016, and requested a refund/change for the insurance from TravelEx since the cruise was cancelled. They have told us that there is a 2 year limitation on any application to a new policy and our new cruise is 2 years and 1 month so we don't qualify.

We have reread our policy and find no such requirement.

Advise us please. Is this true? If no such info exists what should we do to get our money back or applied to our new cruise?

Thanks.
