Tahitian Treasures/South Pacific Dailies

We are considering booking a 2016-2017 Celebrity cruise from Sydney to Honolulu (or vice versa) through Fiji, French Polynesia, or New Zealand. Does anyone have the dailies from an Australia - Hawaii cruise? We are loyal to Celebrity, so we'd really like to see what's scheduled in the Celebrity Today for all those sea days. Thanks!

We did an eighteen night Honolulu to Sydney cruise in 2011 and a twenty-three night San Francisco to Sydney cruise in 2014. Both were on the now gone Century.

I never save any of the "Celebrity Today" handouts, but both cruises were very similar to the several trans-Atlantic cruises we've also done. There were the usual craft activities, speakers and such activities.

On the 2011 cruise the Celebrity naturalist Milos was onboard when we boarded, but on the 2014 cruise naturalist Don Enright, who we have met on other Celebrity cruises, boarded in Hawaii (if my memory is correct). In 2014 the trans-Pacific crossing was the first leg of a B2B and Don was also on the second leg (a South Pacific cruise).

Both cruises had a ceremony celebrating the crossing of the Equator, but both times the ceremony was conveniently scheduled after lunch (the actual crossing had been hours earlier in both cases).

We find trans-Atlantic crossings to be very relaxing, and the trans-Pacific crossings are just as relaxing.

Sorry not got the sheets either but I can give you some idea of events. We did the Hawaii to Sydney last October.

There was the usual Trivia, some sort of cooking demo/activity, items out on the lawn and an occasional staff versus crew competition. There was also a great fun crossing the Equator event. There were also some lectures re volcanic activity and island formation. Some events were well attended, others were quiet, often dependent on how hot the sun was on deck!

We did find we had a couple of days where the weather wasn't marvellous and you needed to entertain yourself in the afternoon....we had taken iPads with us loaded with books and games had some free internet time. We had also taken a pack of cards and chess set. To be honest we enjoyed these quiet days as we had been so busy in Hawaii pre cruise and intended to be at every port. We also often had a nap so that we could enjoy the evenings more!

Out of all our cruises world wide, this remains our favourite for variety of ports, down time and great starting and finishing ports, each of which was another holiday in its own right. If you are concerned you may be a little bored on the sea days contact you roll call and see if you can set up any activities yourself. I know on our cruise there was a mahjong competition and a non casino poker tournament, both organised by passengers. We were not involved in either but enjoyed people watching. We never used our cards, used the chess set twice and I only read one out of the many books I had downloaded.

We find the more we cruise the more we like a couple of sea days together to really get energy back from the sightseeing days and to ensure we get the most out of the next port of call.

Hope this is of some use to you and hope you have a great cruise!

I was on the Sydney-Honulu cruise this April and brought all Cruise Planners with me.

If you can wait a bit (give me a week or two), I will scan them.

You should ask your fellow cruisers in the roll call about this, there are often private tours organised by cruise critic members.

We had a Blue Mountains tour with Featherdale Wildlife Park for our pre-cruise stay in Sydney, wine tour in Auckland, Island tour for Tahiti, Jetski/Quad Combo tour for Moorea, boat tour for Bora Bora and Whale Watch in Maui. Everything except for the Whale Watch was a blast (Whale watch being the only X tour we booked, everything else was private).

There are also subforums for all the ports with discussions on tours or ideas for a DIY day.

Hi UniPac:

Just came across this post from you. Were you able to scan the Cruise Planners and if so where would I find them? We are going on the Sydney-Hawaii beginning April 20, 2017. Thank you for you your trouble.

Dear Mark,

Have you joined the roll call and signed up for the meet and greet?
