Port of Montego Bay- how is the shopping?

So I am debating on staying on the ship for the majority of the time and possibly doing some shopping in the port area. But I wanted to know how the port area is? Are there shops like many other ports like Cozumel and Grand Cayman?

No, not right at the port. You'll have to go into Montego Bay for the shopping. Hip Strip has shops and is fun to wander around, but right at port, not much there.

How do I get to these shops? Is it a safe area. What more can I do in this port??

There is a shuttle (hoho bus I believe) that runs between the port and the Hip Strip. I know there is also a market between the two but not sure if the hoho stops there.
