Snorkeling

Have snorkeling gear, looking for best places in Bermuda to snorkel.

Tobacco Bay is great but get there early. Be sure to go to the right where all the rocks are. Also, Fort St. Catherines is great too.

Other posters have said that Chruch Bay and Snorkel Park also have good snorkelling but I haven't snorkelled at either location myself. I have snorkelled at Tobacco Bay and it is nice. Tobacco Bay can get very crowded if there is a cruise ship in St. Georges through.

On the other hand, we do not have our own snorkel gear. I hear Horsehoe Bay has a rental shack and you can rent them for $15. Does anyone know of any other beaches that rent gear out right there on the beach?

Its sale time at Target go buy a set that fits you. It won't cost that much or buy it on ebay. You'll have what you need cheaply and you can go to some of the different places.

Tobacco, Church, John Smith and West Whale Bay(s) and Snorkel Park are your best bets. If you are not a real strong swimmer watch out at Church Bay as currents can be very strong along the reefs.

I came home from a Keys vacation where we had great snorkeling with a mouth fungus. (red and sore) Had to be from snorkeling. So to be on the safe side I have purchased my own snorkel.

I didn't like Tobacco Bay. It was wall to wall people. The Snorkel Park was fantastic.

My husband and I really enjoyed snorkeling at Church Bay. It was tricky climbing down to get to the beach (IIRC, the stairs were damaged by Fabian), but we frequently had the area all to ourselves (we were on a land-based vacation) and the snorkeling was wonderful! We're going back again next year, and you can bet that we will be spending a lot of time at Church Bay!

When in Bermuda 2 years ago we had an awesome time snorkeling at Church Bay. The ocean was so calm and fish were everywhere. We rented equipment right there on the small beach. It was gorgeous!

We are going to be in Kings Wharf from 9-5. Does anyone know how far the Snorkel park is from Kings Wharf?
