What items are "must takes" for a cruise just so you'll "always be prepared?"

Oh how funny that you remembered the story of the off beat neighbor on the Golden Princess doing E Carib, hanging clothes with duct tape in the hallway & never closing their stateroom door the whole cruise....... YIKES!

No Celebrity will not allow anyone even close to that jerk aboard.

Flat Stanley is a paper doll that travels with people to different places and then either writes a report or sends post cards to tell the class about all of his adventures. It really gets the kids excited about the diferent places that he visits and teaches them about the different ways that people live and work. Some Flat Stanley's have bben knownn to meet really important people and get their picture taken and sometimes even get autographs. It can be quit intereseting. My daughter's first graders were thrilled to get mail and travel reports from Stanley.

Strong rubber bands/small bungee cords.
We wrap hand towels around water bottles to insulate. The above keeps the towel on and our beverages stay cooler longer.

Small paintbrush for removing sand from between the toes.

Always at least one deck of cards.

Good manners and consideration for fellow cruisers as well as crew.

Stanley is a sweet kid with much sqeezed cheeks. He is flat, travels well with folks who photogrpah him surfing with them, on a cruise with them, even fishing in his big pocketed jeans. I love the big back pockets on his butt.

I have an Aussie lizard named LARRY I take to casinos & he is featured in photos. He has done a CDS shot of him doing a head stand atop the man atop another man. He has been to Afganistan, Iraq, the Super Bowl and all sorts of strange locales that kids visit the web site, even by photos of him. www.larrythelizard.com is his site.

Thanks. I don't think our school system participates in Flat Stanley. My daughter would love it! I'm going to talk to her teacher about it and hopefully get the ball rolling. icon_smile.gif

Love this thread, also found some hooks that use suction cups. Used the smaller onesin the bathroom for toothbrushes and in the room to hang up hats, and used a larger one for my beach bag. I have never heard of a Flat Stanley, but love the idea, where do you get them?

Regarding Flat Stanley ... there is actually a book about Flat Stanley, which is where schools get the idea to have their students make Flat Stanleys and send them on journeys. It really is a terrific project for a class, or even for a child at home. icon_smile.gif

all of these great tips and to me, one of the most important...a small (like 6 pack igloo size) ICE CHEST/COOLER. that is, if anyone else has problems with those little ice buckets that don't keep ice for even an hour...your ice cooler and a $5 bill at the beginning with "keep it filled" request to room steward/ess works wonders. yu'll NEVER run out of ice and won't have to call the steward for more. and it can be used to carry those items like meds, maybe toiletries, etc --or even beer or wine--at embarkation. never had anything in it taken away. only problem is once neighbors learn you "always" have ice, they come over to bum! but that's ok...also at debarkation that fragile ceramic thingy you couldn't resist, wrapped in used clothing and carefully placed inside has a 100% success rate to arrive unscathed.

On our first cruise one of my friends made us portholes because we had an inside cabin it goes on every cruise with us no matter what kind of cabin we so we always of a great view.
