Bar Harbor Fog :(

Unfortunately the Brilliance of the Sea was unable to tender its passengers on Oct. 13 at Bar Harbor due to zero visibility caused by dense fog. We were to start the tendering process at 7:30 a.m., but heavy fog caused the captain to make the decision at 9:00 a.m. to leave Bar Harbor and head out to sea.

The captain made the right decision for safety reasons, but all the passengers were disappointed in having to miss Bar Harbor, their shore excursions and then spend the day at sea. I heard from several persons, including ship personnel that Bar Harbor has lots of problems with fog causing many cruise ships to not be able to tender and skip the port.

Some have even said to me that cruise ships may want to reconsider coming to Bar Harbor in the future because it is routinely fogged in.
