Just came back from a stop at Amber Cove on the Carnival Glory. Was recommended the Coconut Cove Beach Brake Excursion. apparently a "guest favorite". We had trouble finding reviews on Coconut Cove Beach near Amber Cove, so thought we'd add one.

Would give our particular experience a 2 out of 5 stars.

1 star because it actually exists and 1 star for the very friendly and helpful staff. But that's about it.

Lows:

-It's dubbed as a "hidden jewel". It's not. Beach is at best average.

-They claim white sand beaches. Wrong. Tiny pebble beach.

-Not much to look at when you arrive. 3 main basic structures: gift shop, food area with bar, and washrooms.

-Wind was blowing when we arrived. Yellow flag. All water sports off limits but we're allowed to swim about 10 meters off the shore. Nothing else to do. This may be an issue at certain times of the year.

-FOOD: Awful. Just awful. Chef seemed to be trying but nothing tasted remotely good. All inclusive 1-2 star food. 3 out of the group of 4 of us couldn't eat. Even pasta was inedible.

-Drinks: All inclusive - very basic local beers and drinks served in small disposable cups.

-Ride there and back: sold as a "drive in the rugged outback roads", "discover the countryside". Reality - see some cows and donkeys and stray dogs, a few homes, smell lots of manure, enjoy plastic ad Styrofoam litter everywhere around you, and endure 45 minutes of juts and ruts - hopefully you don't have back issues.

-About 1 hour before scheduled departure time, guests lined up hoping to get back to ship early. But to be fair - could have been the windy weather - although let's also be fair - the look of disappointment was all over people's faces.

HIGHS:

-Staff - happy, friendly, courteous. High praise for them.

-Transport Vehicles (open air trucks): New and clean - but ride is rough due to terrain.

-Cleanliness: Must admit the staff kept the resort clean. Surprisingly though it was always hard to find a garbage bin.

Ultimately, this is a place carved out of nowhere purpose designed for cruise travelers who want a few hours on a secluded beach. At $70 per adult and $60 per child, it was way too much money for what was offered. It was difficult to get to and when you arrived it was not much to remember. Avoid it if seas look rough or if you're looking for something other than a basic beach. I suspect there are better options.

We let Carnival Shore Excursions know about these issues when we boarded only to be met with some snarkiness from staff. Not impressed. Hope this helps others.
