hockeysoccerfam Posted November 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2015 I'm trying to plan out our 4 specialty dinings and wonder if anyone would know when 'elegant/formal' night is. We sail on a Saturday...NCL Escape...ports are St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau. Thank you!
NoahtheRed Posted November 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2015 There's no specific formal night. In the past, I remember the first sea day being when most people dress up for dinner. But in all the cruises I've done over the last few years, I don't recall a specific formal night being announced.

We sail on a Saturday...NCL Escape...ports are St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau. Thank you! It is whatever night you want it to be! NCL has no formal or elegant nights. They do have a Norwegian's Night Out, or it used to be called Dress Up or NOT Night, usually the night of the first sea day. Some people do dress nicely for pictures at various set ups in the atrium area, but you will see many people dressed very casually, probably the vast majority. The aft MDR and Le Bistro have a minimum dress code of long pants and collared shirt, no sandals for men, so if you plan to dress up, you might pick one of those venues for your dress up dinner. Otherwise you may be sitting next to a table of those wearing shorts, but on NCL very few are bothered by that. People tend to dress up, or not, on any night. I just recall many years ago (oh, around 16) when we last cruised on NCL, there was a 'formal night'...I guess that's what the free style sailing is about now. Thanks for the info. Bobstam Posted November 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2015 Are reservations necessary for main dining room? Or do you just show up during open hours?

travelbug771 Posted November 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2015 Sorry to piggy back, but if we have a large party that wish to dine together (15 people) is this possible? If so, is this something I can request ahead of time or once on the ship? THanks
