St Lucia in the afternoon

On a Saturday in January we will be in St Lucia. I have booked a cruise to the Pitons which arrives back at the ship at 12.30. As the ship does not leave until early evening (?5 o.clock?) we would like to do something in the afternoon. Is there a nice beach nearby which could be reached with a short taxi ride?

You can walk to Vigie Beach in 10-20 minutes. Lovely shady beach with calm swimming waters, some local rum and food shacks down by the entrance.to the airport, etc. Easy flat walk over, and just nearby the poet.

Alternatively, quick walk over to Castries Food and Craft market for souvenirs, local craft work, produce, spices, meat and fish shops, etc for a taste of local flavors.

Enjoy your visit.
