Holiday Inn Port of Miami--Cab? No Shuttle?

I plan on taking cab for my family of three from MIA to the Holiday Inn Port of Miami on 1/1 before a 1/2 departure on RCI. But the morning of the cruise,am I correct that there is no shuttle to the port from the hotel? And if that is correct, are cabs very easy to get into for what looks like less than a mile? I plan on packing heavy so no delusions about doing it on foot...oh, and travelling with a 9 year old helps make that decision easy.

Yes, you'll need a taxi... They're easy to get, there will be many of them in the area of the downtown hotels.
