Magic GTY Assigned, but...

So we finally got our verandah cabin assigned and it's on deck 5 aft. We have never been on the Magic and we usually don't reserve GTY. We mostly reserve higher decks. But we thought we save some money this time.

Looking at the deck plan, we notice that the theater is right outside and then there's a nursery. Are we in for a lot of screaming and running around noise coming from these areas or are these cabins pretty isolated or better yet, insulated and quiet? :D

We prefer a stateroom on deck 5 - forward or aft. The aft staterooms are far enough away from the theater entrance so you will not hear any noise. The nursery is forward of the theater entrance, so no noise from nursery. The nursery room itself is not at entrance. As you walk by the nursery entrance, you will not see the nursery room/children.

We had a stateroom back there on the Wonder. Very quiet, nice location. The only thing I noticed was the frequent smell of popcorn from the movies being shown... And twice I got to witness the verbal abuse the poor popcorn girl gets about selling popcorn and sodas. (Not from our room, just walking by)

The nursery and theatre are forward of the aft elevators. Then you have the "lobby" sort of area where the elevators are located, and after that the guest cabins. There is no reason for any guest who is not staying on that hallway to be there--no place to go on a walk by, no "just passing thru."

5 aft is one of our favorite parts of the ship. It is quiet. There are relatively few cabins along the hallway. No noise from the theatre. Worst case, those people will get off the elevator and go forward. In fact, we noticed that the chairs and small table that used to be in the corner of the elevator area had been removed...even less reason for anyone to "hang out."

If you walk forward past the theatre, you'll come to the nursery sign in area. The actual nursery is toward the center of the ship. Sure, there could be a crying baby at intake, but that is quite far from your cabin.

You may find yourself walking past the theatre and nursery entrances a fair amount, but you have to walk down some hall. We find this preferable to walking past rows of cabins!
