MSC Splendida or MSC Meraviglia

Hi,

 

My TA has allowed me to change cruises if i wanted to so i need opinion from experienced cruisers.

 

Which one do you think will be a better option:

 

MSC Splendida from Civitavecchi on 27th March 2017 for a total of $1650 for balcony

 

Or

 

MSC Meraviglia from Barcelona on 20th october 2017 for $2650 for balcony

 

We are 2 adults and an infant.

It may be a lot to do with the flight times and transfers,

 

Civitavecchia is a long way from the airport , about 1 to 1.5 hrs drive on a good day .

 

whereas Barcelona is about a 20 minute drive,

 

But it also has to be the total cost, flights and transfers plus cruise to consider, as I think $1000 is a lot more to pay for exactly the same cruise at similar climate times of the year, the only difference being a brand new ship over a relatively young ship (2009)

Well either cruise ill arrive couple of days earlier, get jet lag fixed and expore the city.

 

My wife finds the 20 hour buffet amazing plus the new features in the new ship.

 

Do you think its all really worth the extra $1000?

 

About the weather will it be same?
