Poker on Breakaway

Just curious if the breakaway casino has live poker table or just one of the digital ones.... or even multiple tables.

Also what game normally goes on it... 1/2 no limit or some form of limit.

not really worried about tournaments bc they are normally poorly run on casinos.

The Breakaway (and all other NCL ships I've been on) has a live poker table, and usually gets a NL game going every night. The rake is excessive (10% with no cap...so a $200 pot is raked $20...even if no flop).

Unplayable in my opinion, but they seem to get a core group of regulars on most of the cruises I've seen.

Tourneys are also over raked (25% of buy-in I think).

2/5 nl? Wow that is a pretty good buy in game.

Expect the high rakes bc cruise ship casinos always do that.

I like to play... just with work do not make it to casinos often so being on a cruise will definitely look to play most nights for a bit.

Word of advice. Most players on a cruise ship have no idea in hell what they are doing. Some do not even know the ranks of the hands. They have merely seen poker on TV and want to give it a shot. Play accordingly and you will take home a lot of money. Last cruise I started the first day with $300 and by the end of the cruise I had turned it into over $3500 and that was with missing two days at the table.

Oh I know this all too well.... not that we are pro's... but the level is very low on a cruise!

Cruises are good places to learn how to play many casino games... bc the dealers are alot more helpful to try and get you to play and spend... Many years ago I learned craps on a cruise ship bc the dealers coached me through the basics.

Yeah very low is an understatement. :) I had one guy on my last cruise who would stay in to the end if he had anything a pair or better under any circumstances at any cost and they at the end turn his cards up and put his hands in the air with a "did I win" look on his face. I got him all in when I had quad 2's with an Ace kicker on my button. He paired his 4 and had a boat 2's over 4's and was sure he was good.He bet $25 on the river I came over top for $600+ all in, he called. Board was J4222. He had 46. Donkey call. Only thing I could have had with that bet that he could have beat was pocket 3's and I would not have come over top all in with that. On well, easy money!

Nice hand with the quads. Yes the quality of players is weak at best overall. You realize though that you were extremely lucky to not only win, but get as much as you did from him. I assume that there was no pre-flop raise or any bet on the flop as you only had a pair of dueces. The turn is where you get lucky hitting trips. The river you were also lucky having the fish call your monster over bet of the pot. If you have the patience, bankroll and ability to stay off of tilt from the bad beats(which will happen quite a bit from the bad players) then anyone with decent skill will make money. Good job on the productive week.

Normally I fold ace rag. On the button, no raise five limpers I had pot odds with $25+ in the pot. Flop was weak with a deuce and only a $10 bet called once before me so $45+ in the pot again I had pot odds. Deuce on the turn and I knew I was good called a $20 bet. Deuce on the River weak player bet $25 I came over top all in he called for some dumb reason.
