Taxi from NOLA cruise terminal to Amtrak station

I am looking to cruise from New Orleans in June , I am from Australia and plan to go by train to Memphis after cruise. The train departs 1 45 pm , cruise due to dock 8 am

Read somewhere cabs only take you to airport not city drop off

 

Should I book train for day of ship arrival or be prudent and travel next day.

I will be in New Orleans for about four days prior to cruise

 

Appreciate experiences and solutions

 

Any suggestions for hotels with close proximity to transport and things to do and see would be appreciated .

A taxi will take you there and have a lot of time to spare. You can also get Uber for $6 to $8. I'm not sure how much the taxi is but it is not much as it is a short distance.

You should be fine with that time. The train station is only a few miles from the port. There will be taxis waiting and they do go short distances.
