Flying out of MIA or FLL?

Cruise returning to Port Everglades or Port of Miami?

Budget & dates? the $300+ room in Feb can go for under $100 in August

Travelling with kids? Honeymoon?

A little more info will help the suggestions to be closer to your target.

The Hyatt in downtown Miami is nice - I've stayed there for a conference. I am not familiar with the Courtyard. Other popular hotels in downtown Miami include the Doubletree, the next door Marriott, and two hotels in the Mary Brickell area - Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.

All will offer good shopping/dining/nightlife and you can also grab a hop on/off bus or other tour there if desired.

I've stayed in the Doubletree several times while on business - the pool is amazing and Bin 18 (2 blocks away at Biscayne and 18th) offers great tapas and an extensive wine & craft beer list.
