Uniworld SS Catherine - category/room sizes?

Hello all,

 

We would like to try Uniworld and have chosen the SS Catherine to sail on (Burgundy & Provence). My question is what is the difference between Category 1/2/3 besides location? It seems that Category 1 has open air balcony and Category 2 & 3 have French Balcony but they say the are all the same size but Category 1 open air looks like its in a deck of sorts?

 

There is a big price difference between all of them so trying to figure out why we should pay more. :confused:

 

Any input would be helfpul.

We had a suite on the Catherine as we wanted the larger size. The staterooms on that deck do not have balconies in the usual sense. The "open air" balconies are like a tiny sitting room with windows and screens that can be opened, and that area can be closed off from the rest of the stateroom. Some CC members have stated that this open air balcony actually takes away from the size of the stateroom.

There is really no difference in size. We actually preferred the category 3, near the central stair. We were very close to everything, and no, there was never noise.
