Distance from Maui port to Lahaina

Can someone tell me what the distance is from where NCL moors in Maui to the village of Lahaina? Are there cabs at the pier or organized tours? Trying to plan my upcoming trip but don't want to pay NCL prices for that tour.

A little reading on the board would find many threads discussing this trip. It is about 45 minutes drive- a pretty expensive taxi ride. The common recommendation is to rent a car.

Rent a car? You should book that in advance.

 

Again, a little reading shows that the rentals are done out of the Kahalui airport, which is a short distance from the port, and shuttles run between the port and the car lots.

By all means if you want to save money, rent a car. I checked out taxi rides to Lahaina and it is $80 each way. We booked a car rental through Discount Hawaii Car Rental based on input from Cruise Critic and will pay less than 1/2 of what a taxi would cost and that includes the gas.
