4Butterflycruiser Posted February 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2017 We have a couple of hotels booked. Marriott FL North and Residence Inn Marriott Weston. Prices are several hundreds more at hotels closer to Port Everglades -- I guess bc of spring break! We have 6 people flying into FLL Sat Mar 11 @9pm and cruising Princess the next day Terminal 2. I called a couple of shuttles off Yelp and it's about 75-80 for each -- airport to hotel then hotel to ship. Is this our best option?
CruiserBruce Posted February 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Taxi would be my first choice. May take 2 taxis. Or maybe a van or SUV, but that will depend on the number of bags.
Payd Posted February 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I would go with Uber. Best bet would be to go in two groups of three. Or try an UberXL depending on luggage. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
4Butterflycruiser Posted February 16, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted February 16, 2017 thanks for both! Are shuttles just not as dependable out there or is it the cost is less for taxi/uber?
Payd Posted February 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Cost is (in our experience much less as you pay by the car not the person) lower with Uber. Also with a shuttle you get to go fill up with other people and go where they want to go. Murphys Law might have a full shuttle and it isn't fun stopping a three or four other ships before you get to your ship. Payd Posted February 16, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2017 thanks for both! Are shuttles just not as dependable out there or is it the cost is less for taxi/uber? I also should have said that for us Uber is ultimately very dependable. You can see the car approach on the map on your app. You have confirmation of the car type. Plate number. Driver name. You know the price of your ride when you order a car with Uber. No tipping necessary. Even the least inspired taxi and shuttle drivers expect tips. 4Butterflycruiser Posted February 16, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted February 16, 2017 use uber lots during travel -- only 1 bad experience! And great point -- shuttles do expect a sizable tip! Thanks!
4Butterflycruiser Posted February 16, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Nope -- no sharing of shuttles shall happen :)
Talex831 Posted February 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2017 Weekend hotel rates are always super high at Everglades hotels. We use taxis FLL to hotel, then hotel to port. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
