I have sailed with Carnival and so has my family. I have a friend that wants us to book with them on a royal caribbean cruise. I know nothing about there ships or even if they are kid friendly. I have read what is on there website but i want yalls thoughts.

Which is better Carnival or Royal Caribbean?

If you have sailed on Royal Caribbean what makes it better over Carnival?

Is Royal Caribbean kid friendly??

One is, in general, no more "kid friendly" than the other. When it comes to these two lines, it is important to compare specific ships and not just the lines themselves. Both have large fleets with ships well over 20 years old with limited facilities to some of the newest, largest, most feature-filled ships sailing right now. Any ship on both lines will have dedicated children's programs and activities, its just some ships have more features than others.

As an example, I would not compare a Carnival Dream class ship (Dream ,Magic, Breeze) to say Royal's Majesty of The Seas. The Dream class ships are Carnival's newest with tons of amenities for kids as well as adults. Majesty of The Seas not so much. On the flip side, Carnival has nothing to compare to Royal's Oasis and Quantum class ships.

We are looking at royal caribbean liberty of the seas.

Liberty of the Seas is a beautiful ship. You will find RCCL to be a major step up from Carnival in terms of amenities and shows and things to do. I'm not sure when you are going but by June, they will have added a third waterslide to this ship (they have 4 already). It already has flow riders, ice skating, a huge aqua park, mini golf, rock climbing, sports court and much, much more for kids. They feature Dreamworks characters and have parades onboard the ship in the Royal Promenade - which will sort of remind you of the inside of a shopping mall. There is a 3D movie theater and poolside movie screen. The kids clubs are very, very popular. I'm not sure if you have very small children, but RCCL actually has a nursery and babysitting for very young cruisers so parents can enjoy a night out without the kids.

For adults, they have the all adult solarium and giant hot tubs cantilevered over the sides of the ship. There are numerous specialty restaurants such as Sabor (Mexican) Giovanni's Table, Jade Sushi, Johnny Rocket's, and Chop's Grill. There is a huge casino and 22 bars and nightclubs. PADI scuba diving program (get certified on your cruise.)

For shows, they have Saturday Night Fever in the main theater and there are also ice skating shows.

The cabins include glass showers and are very spacious. If you want a suite you will find levels of suites beyond anything Carnival has including the Royal Family Suite that includes 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

The RCCL ships have a lot more to offer than most Carnival ships and I think you will be favorably impressed with them. Certainly your kids will have an absolute blast!
