nanapat Posted March 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2017 We will be in port from 8-5, we would like to take an island tour, but all of Carnivals tours are sold out. Could anybody recommend a reputable tour company we could use? We aren't beach people and I may have a wheelchair. Thanks for the help!
blue_water Posted March 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2017 You will find several drivers at the port offering great island tours at reasonable prices ($20 - 25pp for 3 - 4 hrs). Some include a beach stop while others do not so you can choose a tour that sounds good to you. I would suggest stopping at the visitor center when you arrive at the dock and ask the nice ladies there for help, they can direct you to the ideal tour operator for your interests. They can also assist you with ensuring the wheelchair is not a problem if need be. One note, even though you aren't interested in beaches, the oldest continually operating rum distillery in the Carib is located in Cane Garden Bay, and you can also grab a nice lunch there at Myett's or Tony's next door. So you may want to consider a tour with a beach stop if that interests you.

blue_water Posted March 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Hi Pat, One note on Cane Garden Bay, it is a large Bay with several beach bars/restaurants and can get a bit busy there because most folks going to the beach will go there. But if you stop for a quick tour of the distillery and a lunch at Myett's or Tony's it is still nice. Tony's was once the famous Stanley's Welcome Bar with the tire swing in the palm tree, that was destroyed by hurricane Georges in 1998 and cousin Tony took it over in 2005 or so when we were staying in CGB. Our favorite spot for that "cheeseburger in paradise" or fish tacos. Myett's is very good too and has a nice open-air pavilion and bar. And the group tours I mentioned are typically in the open-sided safari taxis. You can also opt for a private tour in a sedan or van but at a higher cost of course. But Tortola is a gorgeous island, the people are wonderful, and the views of the bays and other islands along the drive are spectacular. Enjoy your day! :)
