Elation Cruise - 12/31/2005

1st cruise for myself and my family. Some confusion over whether Ecstacy or Elation was pulled out of rotation for FEMA efforts. Yesterday Carnival's sales office swore that Ecstacy would be my ship, but recanted today and confirmed that Elation will be sailing in her place, and reconfirmed Coz and Playa del Carmen would be the land destinations.

I booked a penthouse suite on the Upper Deck for my wife and I, and put the kids, two 20 year-olds and a 16 year-old in one oceanview stateroom on the same deck. Hope they won't be too crowded.

Given that we'll be at sea New Year's Eve, should we go the extra step and wear tuxedos? I've already read many posts that dark suits are perfectly acceptable, but given the holiday I wonder if it doesn't call for something more.

This message board is going to be an invaluable reference tool over the next five weeks and I offer my advance thanks to all who post their experiences and promise to do the same upon our return. :)
