Cruising Princess Ruby to Alaska Aug 2017

Hello Can anyone give me info if the alcohol beverage package is worth it or are there bogo, happy hour specials that i could take advantage off? Do both adults in same cabin have to buy the package? Is the only way to buy a bottle for your room through the cruise ship? Very pricey. I know each adult can bring on a "free" bottle of wine. On another note is there a indoor pool?

There is no rule against only one person in your party buying the AIBP. But if you try to share the package (other than bottles of wine) you run the risk of having it cancelled without a refund.

 

There are buy-one-get-one(identical drink)-for-$1 happy hours twice a day; usually from 3:00-4:00 and either 10-11 or 11-12. Times and venues can vary from day to day so always check the Princes Patter. (And no, you cannot get a second drink for your companion for $1 by getting the first drink with your AIBP).

 

Is the package worth it? Usually only if you value the convenience of pre-paying higher than whether or not you consume more than the value of the plan every day. Will you go over the $50/day in value? Someone who implied they are only a light drinker just asked that yesterday and here is the breakdown suggested:

 

• Specialty coffee + fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast
  
• Mid-morning soda/bottle of water/frozen drink
  
• One or two beverages with lunch (soda/beer/wine) plus coffee concoction after
  
• Mid-afternoon cold drink--or maybe a spot of premium tea
  
• Pre dinner cocktail/mocktail
  
• One or two glasses of wine (or otherwise) with dinner
  
• Espresso/Cappuccino/Limoncello after dinner (Limoncello will make your waiter very happy as they are usually having a contest for who can sell the most)
  
• Cocktail/Mocktail/soda/whatever at the theatre show
  
• Nightcap on your way back to your cabin. Or several hanging out at Skywalker's.
  

Well over the per diem cost of the package without much effort.

 

Yes the cost of the bottles to your cabin seems high especially given that they are only 375ml bottles. But many people who do go that route end up spending a lot less than the $50/pp/pd AIBP cost and are more than satisfied with the number of drinks they were able to mix themselves.

 

 

Oh, and there is no covered pool on Ruby Princess.
