Mayan Ruins tour and beach time in Costa Maya?

We are going to be landing in Costa Maya 8am - 5pm 6/14 from and would like to do a Mayan tour and work in some beach time. The general consensus is that Native Choice is the way to go with Mayan tours.

I have read that its possible to do the tour with Native Choice, take their bus back to their HQ, then get a cab to the resort of our choice. Has anyone ever done this plan before? How much time would likely be left for beach time? I wouldn't want to make reservations at a resort if I'm only going to have an hour on the beach. I also don't want to end up on a "Pier Runner" youtube video, so getting back onboard the Escape at least an hour prior to the Captain honking the horn is important.

Thanks in advance

People do this all the time. How much time you spend at the beach ( and these aren't "resorts" they are open beach clubs that run into each other--same strip of sand) will depend upon what time you get back from your tour.

No advanced reservations at any of the beach clubs are necessary except for No Hoch Kay, which is an all inclusive and you wouldn't have time there. Blue Kay might be your closest bet as taxis can enter directly into Blue Kay via a separate entrance. Tropicante would also be a good choice. Many people "pre-book" their loungers and that could be useful as the Carnival Fantasy, a smaller ship, gets in at noon and stays til 8P that day. won't cost you anything in advance and if you don't show up you're out nothing.

Thanks for the reply. We booked Native Choice for the 4 hour Mayan tour. Going to meet my parents at one of the above resorts after tour.
