trouble1964 Posted September 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2017 If you want to see a lot of the island, research private tours. Check these boards, trip advisor, and face book for them. We walked out of the cruise terminal and caught a tour from there. I think it was called Sun tours. There were 5 of us in the van, 3 from another ship and us. It lasted several hours and we saw a lot of the country. The guide was very nice and pleasant and we were treated very well. We had adequate stops for bathroom breaks. I wanted to see a monkey, and he made sure I saw one! I prefer to book independent tours, instead of the cruise line tours. Many times it's the same company, just instead of being on a bus, you are in a van. It saves time because with a bus, you have to wait for everyone to gather---and there are people who will be late---and the cruise line will wait for them, while the independent tours will fill one van, and then you're on your way. Late people just catch the next van. Plus, you aren't having to wait for everyone to get on and off the bus at each stop, waiting on everyone to have a bathroom break and shop, etc.
