misterb25 Posted October 21, 2017 #26 Share Posted October 21, 2017 We booked a deck 8 Promenade stateroom on Explorer and set our upgrade preference to: "will accept an upgrade but not to a deck lower than already booked".12 hrs before we left Perth for Sydney we noticed we had been moved to an Oceanview on deck 2!!!. We had to wait until we boarded to sort it out. An email to RCI post cruise confirmed they concidered it an upgrade but admitted they didn't take notice of our preference. It is now set to NO upgrade. We had exactly the same experience with RCCL, our preferences are the same as yours, and they also moved us from a PR room to OV on Deck 2. We screamed blue murder, we asked if we had to accept an upgrade and they replied no. We then demanded our original room back. They told us they had already allocated it to someone else. We were then put onto a supervisor who eventually rang us back and offered us a balcony cabin which we happily accepted.

Would have loved a balcony but we ended up back in a promenade cabin on deck 6 above the cafe (so 2 decks below our original). We still had a great time but just a stressful start.
