We have to change or cancel our NRD cruise - What would you do?

First, please don't flame me for booking a non-refundable deposit cruise. The week we have vacationed has been static for 10 years so we "knew" we were safe by choosing the same week for 2018. Well, the week has been changed by powers beyond our control. Needless to say, we've learned our lesson. We are looking for opinions as if any of you were in our shoes.

Anyway, we will lose $300 whether we change or cancel up until July 2018. We have time to find another option! But, as this hit us like a ton of bricks, we are anxious to get it resolved. With RCI's pricing techniques (dare I call them sales?) all of our current options are pricier than what our original booking is. (We booked 2 adults, 1 child during a WOW sale with KSF)

A few simple options we are considering are:

  • Change the booking now (same ship) even if it's more expensive and keep our eyes open for a price drop (will we be able to pick up KSF if we book without it?)
  • Change to different ship and/or port
  • Cancel and look to make up the loss by finding a cheaper cruise elsewhere (different cruise line)
  • Cancel and stay on land

Thank you all in advance!
