just wondered as we are in port in Nassau on new years eve and leave 5pm, would we get to see Atlantis fireworks at midnight ?

No. You will be seven hours out to sea at midnight, too far from Atlantis.

The ship doesn't need to be in Half Moon Cay until 8 am the next morning. Estimated travel time by Bahamian ferry is 2 hours, 30 minutes. The ship could easily hang out just off shore until midnight for fireworks, then spend a little extra on fuel to get to the next stop in 7-8 hours. Completely doable, but cost will always prevent anything special or magical for the passengers. Even on a NYE cruise. But that's none of my business.
