horsing around Posted April 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Coming up on our third cruise with Norwegian and we have enjoyed each very much. This one is a longer more expensive cruise and am trying to cut corners every way possible. Does anyone have a extremely reliable and affordable cruise insurance company they could recommend? Norwegian charges $520.00 for the two of us. We have talked to others and private companies seem to be out there. Would appreciate knowing how you have handled this. Many thanks! Kartgv Posted April 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Go to a website like InsureMyTrip.com and enter your information about your trip and the type of insurance you want. You'll get multiple quotes from different companies. You can choose several for a comparison chart, plus you can view ratings including Better Business Bureau for each of the offering companies. Many people here on Cruise Critic use this site. If you under the age of 65 or so, private coverage will probably be less expensive. Older passengers often do better with cruise line insurance because they do not factor in age when establishing their rates. You first need to decide what you want to cover - full cost of the trip (cancel for any reason?), just medical & evacuation, lost baggage, etc. It all depends on your individual circumstances. Actually, I believe those are A.M. Best claims paying ratings (rating the company’s financial ability to pay, not how easy it is to get a filed claim paid). A.M. Best specializes in rating insurance companies. It’s kind of like a Moody’s bond rating. Another company is the Tripinsurance Store. TripInsurance Store is run like a small shop with personalized service. They will actually give advice based on personal needs.
