bronzebeauty Posted April 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2018 We will be in st. Maarten in may. Is there anything to do within short walking distance from the ship? My husband and I will be doing a excursion but my elderly in laws plan on just sticking around the port(if possible) otherwise they may not even get off the ship. I would encourage them to get off the ship at least. Downtown is about a half mile that I usually walk, but there is a water taxi right there. There is a nice beach and lots of food and shopping right there and you can take the water taxi back to the ship. Now with your user name, maybe you should take a taxi to Orient Beach. Its always been our favorite beach, but it is still recovering from last year's hurricane, but we are anxious to help support the rebuild, so we will drive up and spend the day there. Karysa Posted April 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2018 Just take a taxi to town. Stroll the boardwalk in one direction and Front Street (shopping, church, old courthouse) on the way back. It's a 15 minute walk to town and to me the walk in town is nicer than the walk to town. Plenty of restaurants on the water for lunch. There is a small museum in town as well. The beach is nice but the water quality at times is not.
